WHAT

Camping WA.net has booked the DEC facilities at Icy Creek in the Lane Poole Reserve near Dwellingup. Just a lazy 130km drive south of Perth.

For those that aren’t familiar with Icy Creek, it is a purpose built camping and educational facility managed by the DEC. Facilities include showers, toilets, sleeping huts, a large rotunda, gas barbecues as well as a large grassy area for tents and campers.

If you haven’t been on a Camping WA trip before, this will be a great chance to meet some likeminded people in a relaxed environment.

WHEN

Friday 13th Feb to Sunday 15th Feb 2009

Check in time for those coming down on the Friday is 2pm, those coming on the Saturday can come down at any time.

HUTS

There’s 6 huts that sleep 8 people each, we’d like to reserve the huts initially for those with young families and others that may find it hard with camping accommodation. After that it Is first in best dressed, so let me know when you RSVP if you would like to reserve one.

DOGS

Dogs are allowed in the area but they must remain on a leash as there are fox baits in the area.

THINGS TO DO

The jarrah/marri forest surrounding the facility is an ideal location to learn about forest management, environmental issues and scientific ecological studies.

It's proximity to other well known places of interest in Lane-Poole Reserve including the King Jarrah Walk Trail, Nanga Mill, Nanga Townsite and the Nanga 4x4 heritage Circuit, provides a wealth of alternate activities.

There is no formal agenda for the weekend, the idea of the trip is to meet people and have a relaxing weekend. I’m sure there will be people that wish to go for a drive, or others that wish to laze around the river. Whatever it be you’ll find there’s plenty of likeminded others.

FEES

Camping Fees are $10 per night for Adults and $6 Per night for children under the age of 16.

Let me know what day you wish to come down and also if you would like to reserve a sleeping hut or not. Also if you wish to come down on the Friday please let me know so we can arrange to meet you at the gate.
